Fall Photography Artist Statement:
I try to give the bland and ordinary a strange, dramatic weight… like a memory that feels important but one that can’t quite be placed. My work is shaped by the surreal dreams I had as a child, full of confusion and meaning, just out of reach. That tension of things almost making sense is what I aim to reflect in my images.
I’m drawn to empty or overlooked spaces: parking lots, fields, storefronts. Especially when lit in eerie or unusual ways. I focus on small, forgotten details… a crack in a sign, a torn cable, a distant shape in the dark… and frame them in ways that blur the line between real and imagined.
To me, photography is about translating a feeling. I hope my warped perspectives and dreamlike tones can briefly transport someone into a world that feels both familiar and unknown.
